La Salle's Tyreek Duren has won the StatSheet A-10 Player of the Week award for the week ending January 28th. Kellen Dunham from Butler has won StatSheet's A-10 Freshman of the Week. And finally, St. Joseph's (PA)'s Halil Kanacevic takes home StatSheet's A-10 6th Man of the Week. Duren had great stats in shooting (50%), rebounding (5 per game), and scoring (16 pts per game). The La Salle junior played well for the Explorers in wins against 9th ranked Butler and 19th ranked Virginia Commonwealth.
Duren topped all scoring for the Explorers with 16 points while also adding 6 assists in a close 54-53 win over Butler. That was followed by 16 points and 3 assists in a 69-61 upset of Virginia Commonwealth.
This is the first StatSheet A-10 Player of the Week honor for Tyreek Duren. The runner-up this week is senior Ramon Galloway from La Salle. Honorable mention goes to Demetrius Conger, a senior from St. Bonaventure. Kendall Anthony finished 10th and was the highest ranking player from Richmond.
StatSheet A-10 Freshman of the Week: Butler's Kellen Dunham
Kellen Dunham was on the floor an average of 32 minutes starting both games for Butler. His average in three pointers (4.0 per game) was the best among all A-10 freshmen. In a 54-53 loss to La Salle, Dunham registered 15 points on 54% shooting. Following that in an 83-71 win against Temple, he totaled 17 points and 4 rebounds.
Amazingly, Kellen Dunham has won the StatSheet A-10 Freshman of the Week 5 times. Our own Deion Taylor gets runner-up. Honorable mention goes to Patricio Garino from George Washington.
StatSheet A-10 6th Man of the Week: St. Joseph's (PA)'s Halil Kanacevic
Sophomore Halil Kanacevic, a 6-8 reserve forward, averaged 30 minutes of action over two games for the Hawks. In a 73-64 loss to St. Bonaventure, Kanacevic took the lead in scoring for the Hawks with 16 points on 100% shooting. During a 59-49 win against Xavier, he led all scoring with 15 points and added 6 assists.
This is the first StatSheet A-10 6th Man of the Week honor for Halil Kanacevic. Our own Kendall Anthony is runner up. Bryan Bynes, a senior guard from George Washington, receives honorable mention. Richmond players have been named StatSheet A-10 Player of the Week once this season.
